Mix-Your-Own Soil for Life – 500L

Everything you need to make your own Soil for Life at home in one easy kit! All you need is a large tarp and a rake!

Dalefoot Compost (Bracken, Wool & Comfrey) 100L
Vermicompost 20L
CoCo Coir 250L
Buckwheat Husk 105L
Bio-Char 20L
Kelp Meal 1.5KG
Neem Meal 2KG
Krill Meal 0.5KG
Gypsum Granules 0.5KG
Gypsum Powder 1KG
Calcium Carbonate 0.5KG
Basalt Rock Dust 17.5KG
Alfalfa Meal 1KG
Mealworm Frass 1.5KG
Fish Meal 1KG
BSF Larvae 0.5KG

Instructions:

1. Lay out the tarp and start piling up the base mix ingredients – Compost, Verm, Organic Material & Aeration inputs.
2. Use the rake the thoroughly blend through until the base mix looks all nicely mixed together.
3. Once the base mix is finished add the Nutrition inputs and use the rake to blend thoroughly together.
4. When the soil mix is complete, it will need moistening to the point where it can be squeezed together but breaks apart easily again.
5. When the moisture level is looking good, pile it all up and cover it with the tarp to allow it to start cooking.
6. After 2-3 days the pile will start to heat up as the microbes go to work. At this stage it will need to be turned…
7. To turn the soil pile, use the rake to drag it flat, bringing the middle to the outside and then raking through to mix thoroughly.
8. Once the soil has been turned, it will be re-aerated and can now be piled up again in the same way as before.
9. Turn the pile every 2-3 days until you notice it starts to cool down each time. Once it sits at ambient temps it is good to go!

The whole cooking process usually takes 10-14 days depending on the environmental conditions, sometimes microbial activity will be visible, sometimes not.

When the soil mix is complete, it can be used immediately.
