Thripor-L – Orius Laevigatus – 500 Bottle (THRI5)

£70.00

SKU: FGBUO. Categories: , .

Thripor-L contains the predatory bug Orius laevigatus, a highly effective biological control agent that actively hunts and feeds on thrips in all life stages, as well as other small pests, meaning this species integrates well alongside applications of predatory mite species. Fast-acting and versatile, it establishes quickly in crops and helps maintain long-term pest balance. This species is effective for controlling the most common thrips species including Frankliniella occidentalis Western flower thrips (WFT), Thrips tabaci Onion thrips and due to its stabbing proboscis, has the ability to target a wide range of other thrips species and soft bodied pests. Orius laevigatus is effective alongside Montdorensis predatory mite under glasshouse environments for controlling tricky to control thrips species that pupate on leaf rather than dropping off the plant, and have larger first and second instar larval stages. These thrips species include Glasshouse thrips Heliothrips haemorrhoidalis, Impatiens thrips/ Poinsettia thrips Echinothrips americanus and Japanese flower thrips Thrips setosus.lass=”alignnone size-full wp-image-3173″ />

500 adults and nymphs. Presentation: 100 ml bottle. Carrier: Vermiculite and buckwheat hulls.

Combined use: Should be combined with generalist predatory mites.

Activity / Control

Adults and nymphs pierce thrips larvae and adults with their sucking mouthparts and suck out the contents. Visual effect: Orius laevigatus sucks out the body contents of its prey leaving only the empty skin. Environmental conditions: Optimal temperatures for Thripor-L are above 20°C (68°F), lower temperatures slow down the development of Orius laevigatus significantly. Effectivity is reduced at temperatures above 30°C (86°F).

Application Method

Shake bottle gently before use. Spread material on leaves and/or in application boxes (Dibox) or tray/saucer to allow the Orius to distribute themselves. Apply in groups of at least 50 insects in order to establish a population and encourage mating. Make sure the material remains undisturbed at the introduction site for a few hours after application. Apply as soon as possible after receipt. If necessary, the product can be stored for 1-2 days. Storage temperature: 10-15°C/ 50-59°F. Storage conditions: In the dark, bottle horizontally.

Application Rate

The dosage of Thripor-L depends on climate, crop and thrips density and should always be adjusted to the particular situation. Start introduction as soon as the first thrips are detected in the crop. Introduction rates typically range from 0.5-10 per m2/release. Releases should be repeated once or twice.
