Crimson Clover is used as a ‘cover cop’ or ‘green manure’ in that not only does it protect the top layer of your soil like a normal mulch layer but it also pulls Nitrogen from the atmosphere to be released into the soil when the crop dies back and is broken down by the soil.
It also interacts with soil bacteria by feeding exudates from it’s roots and improving the overall health of the soil.
We recommend to plant Crimson Clover at the start of a new cycle and then ‘chop and drop’ when it gets shaded out by the main crop canopy above.
All you need to do is scatter and water in, keep moist until established and be amazed by the joy of a living mulch!
